Carlos Augusto is close to a new deal through 2031
Carlos Augusto, the defender who won Wednesday's match, may be the next Inter player to sign. His contract runs to 2028. Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy's biggest sports daily, reports that it should be extended to 2031 within fifteen days. Inter host Fiorentina at San Siro on Sunday at 7:30 AM ET, where Tuttosport expects Ivan Provedel, the goalkeeper signed from Lazio, to make his first start for the club.

Fiorentina come to San Siro with the league's worst defense
Kickoff is 7:30 AM ET, 12:30 CET, in Serie A matchday 8. Fiorentina sit 18th with four points from seven matches. Inter's own preview of them calls their 17 goals conceded the worst record in the league.
Paolo Vanoli replaced Fabio Grosso as head coach after three defeats to open the season. Franco Mastantuono, their leading scorer, has three goals.

Two more Inter teams play on Saturday
The Under-23s host Sorrento at 8:30 AM ET, 14:30 CEST, at the Stadio Ernesto Breda in Sesto San Giovanni. It is their eleventh match in Serie C, and Sky has the broadcast in Italy.
The women beat Parma 3–0 last Sunday. They travel to Napoli in Serie A Women on Saturday, then to OL Lyonnes in the Women's Champions League on Wednesday.

The extension to 2031 is said to be weeks away
Gazzetta dello Sport says the deal should be defined within fifteen days. Carlos Augusto's pay would rise from €2.2 million to €3.5 million plus bonuses (Italian salaries are quoted after tax). Inter have met his agent once already.
Corriere dello Sport is less definite and gives the club about a month. With the contract running to 2028, neither side is under real pressure. Inter also want a deal with Hakan Calhanoglu, the midfielder, before January.

Provedel is set for his first Inter start, 235 days after surgery
Tuttosport expects Ivan Provedel to start against Fiorentina and then at Venezia on Wednesday. His last match was the Coppa Italia semifinal against Atalanta on March 4, and he had shoulder surgery before his move from Lazio. The paper says the job then goes back to Josep Martinez, the goalkeeper who kept Wednesday's clean sheet. Cristian Chivu, the head coach, will not change the order in goal.
The same paper calls Alessandro Bastoni's red card a problem for the trip to Feyenoord on November 3. It names the three defenders it expects in Rotterdam: Yann Bisseck, Manuel Akanji and Carlos Augusto. Benjamin Pavard and John Stones could be fit by then but are unlikely to start. Inter have published nothing about a suspension.
