Milan take the derby 3–1 and Inter slip to second
AC Milan beat Inter 3–1 at San Siro on Saturday night. Milan led inside 10 minutes, and although the center-back Alessandro Bastoni headed one back in the 22nd minute, a free kick in the 43rd minute settled it. Cristian Chivu, Inter’s head coach, said his team got their approach wrong. Inter still have 25 points, but they slip to second behind Lazio, who have a game in hand.

Chivu says Inter got their approach wrong
Chivu spoke to the club’s own channels after the final whistle. “It hurts to lose a Derby, especially when we had hoped for a different outcome,” he said. “We got our approach wrong, but there were positives too,” he added.
He said illness and injuries to the forwards Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny forced him to improvise. Nicolò Barella, the Inter midfielder, took the blame for the third goal. “I managed the situation incorrectly, which led to their third goal,” he said.

Rotterdam on Tuesday, with three points from three
Inter play Feyenoord at De Kuip in Rotterdam on Tuesday, the fourth matchday of the Champions League league phase. Kickoff is 3:00 PM ET, 21:00 CET, on CBS Sports Golazo Network, Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video.

Inter Women play Lazio at the Arena Civica Gianni Brera in Milan today at 6:30 AM ET, 12:30 CET, and the club says entry is free. David Sassarini’s side are second in Serie A Women with 10 points, two behind Roma.
Inter’s Under 23 team play at Cosenza at the same hour, 6:30 AM ET, in the 12th round of Serie C.

The Curva Nord answer with a banner
Inter’s organized supporters in the Curva Nord put up a banner after the derby. It read “Un derby perso senza giocare, neanche le palle di salutare” — a derby lost without playing it, and not even the nerve to come over and face us. Five unavailable for Rotterdam, Pavard the closest to a return
Corriere dello Sport, relayed by FCInter1908, reports five absences for Tuesday: the forwards Lautaro Martínez and Luis Henrique, the defenders John Stones and Benjamin Pavard, and the midfielder Curtis Jones. The paper says Pavard is nearest to coming back, and that Como on November 8 is the likelier date. Inter have published no injury list of their own.
