Derby day: Chivu won't name his goalkeeper
Milan host Inter at San Siro today, and Cristian Chivu, Inter’s head coach, would not name his goalkeeper on Friday. Chivu holds back his goalkeeper choice
Chivu met reporters at Appiano Gentile, Inter’s training ground, on Friday afternoon. Asked who plays in goal, he said: “Non lo so vedremo domani” — I don’t know, we’ll see tomorrow.
He put the shape of his defense down to injuries: “ho solo 3 difensori centrali più Carlos” — I have only three center-backs, plus Carlos. On Thuram he said: “Thuram sta bene, non ha nessun deficit” — Thuram is well; he has no fitness shortfall.
On the match itself: “Favorite non esistono nei derby: c’è ambizione, voglia e orgoglio” — there are no favorites in derbies; there is ambition, desire and pride. The squad trained on Friday morning and then went quiet until San Siro.

Marco Guida is appointed to the derby
ANSA, Italy’s national news agency, reports that Marco Guida, a referee from the Torre Annunziata section, will referee Milan–Inter. The rest of the crew is printed by surname only: Peretti and Perrotti on the lines, Di Bello as fourth official, Mazzoleni on video review with Camplone.
Corriere dello Sport printed the same crew on Friday. Inter have published nothing on it.

Papers put Josep Martínez back in goal
Since Friday the papers have settled on a goalkeeper. Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy’s biggest sports daily, and Corriere dello Sport both expect Josep Martínez to start. Ivan Provedel, who played the last two league games, drops to the bench. Both papers put Pio Esposito alongside Thuram.
Both also name the same three at the back — Yann Bisseck, Manuel Akanji and Alessandro Bastoni — which is every center-back Chivu has. They split over one midfield place: Gazzetta picks Piotr Zieliński, Corriere dello Sport prefers Henrikh Mkhitaryan and expects Zieliński on later for Hakan Çalhanoğlu. Carlos Augusto has shaken off a stomach virus but should begin on the bench.
Sky Sport Italia, relayed by FCInter1908, still has five men out: Lautaro Martínez, Inter’s captain, Benjamin Pavard, John Stones, Curtis Jones and Luis Henrique. Inter have published no lineup.
