Chivu says Lautaro Martínez returns after the break

Cristian Chivu, Inter's head coach, spoke at Appiano Gentile, Inter's training ground, on Friday. The club headlined his answers "Dobbiamo reagire, consapevoli della nostra forza" — we have to react, aware of our own strength.

On Lautaro Martínez, the captain and center forward who strained his left hamstring this week, Chivu said the striker will be out for a while. He added that "probabilmente tornerà dopo la sosta" — he will probably be back after the November break. Yesterday's five-to-six-week estimate came from Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy's biggest sports daily; this one is the coach's own.

Chivu asked for more running and clearer communication rather than a revolution. On Ange-Yoan Bonny, a center forward, he said: "Ange mi sta impressionando" — Ange is impressing me.

Pavard has a strain in his right adductors

Inter said on Friday that Benjamin Pavard, a center back, had clinical and diagnostic tests that morning at the Istituto Humanitas hospital in Rozzano, outside Milan. The tests, the club said, showed "un risentimento agli adduttori della coscia destra" — a strain in the adductor muscles of his right thigh.

The statement gave no return date.

The Under-23 side play today, the women on Sunday

Inter's Under-23 team host Monopoli at the Stadio Ernesto Breda in Sesto San Giovanni today at 8:30 AM ET, 14:30 CEST, in Serie C matchday 10. They are seventh, with one game in hand, after winning 4–0 at Giugliano.
