Inter lose 3–4 to Club Brugge — Tresoldi hat trick

Nerazzurri Daily Edition No. 43, Wednesday, October 14, 2026 — Inter lose 3–4 to Club Brugge

Club Brugge won 4–3 at San Siro on Tuesday night, and Inter have no points from their first two Champions League matches. Nicolò Tresoldi, the 22-year-old Brugge striker, scored three times, the first from the penalty spot, and Inter were behind from the 63rd minute on. Cristian Chivu, Inter’s head coach, said the team lost its balance and shape when it pressed.

Chivu: “We lost our balance and shape when pressing”

Cristian Chivu spoke to the club’s channels after the match. “I cannot be satisfied with the number of goals we conceded,” he said. The work ahead, he said, is on balance, duels, second balls and the distances between players when they press.

He credited Club Brugge for their intensity and their pace out wide, and said he should have projected more calm at halftime. “Above all, we must not lose faith in ourselves,” he said. Yann Bisseck, the Inter defender, was blunter. “We simply cannot concede four goals in the Champions League,” he said.

Lautaro Martínez scores twice and moves to 181 for Inter

Lautaro Martínez, Inter’s captain and striker, scored in the 44th minute, after a flick from Federico Dimarco. He scored again in the 81st, from the rebound after Yann Sommer, the former Inter goalkeeper now at Club Brugge, had saved a substitute’s shot.

The club’s own all-time scorers list now puts him third on 181 goals, behind Alessandro Altobelli on 209 and Giuseppe Meazza on 284.

Gazzetta dello Sport: Dimarco close to terms through 2030

Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy’s biggest sports daily, reported on Monday that Inter want to extend Federico Dimarco’s contract to 2030. The paper says talks with his representatives have begun and that a meeting with the club is coming. The current deal renews automatically to 2028 through an option Inter hold.

The papers put the second goal on Josep Martínez

Goal’s Italian edition gave Josep Martínez, Inter’s goalkeeper, a 5 out of 10 and called the second goal another serious mistake after the opening defeat in Madrid. It gave Manuel Akanji, the defender, 4.5, and wrote that he was almost always out of position.

Filippo Tramontana, writing for FCInterNews, called the night a disaster and said Inter lost their heads after that goal.
