Milan says goodbye to Sandro Mazzola

His number 8 Inter jersey lay on the coffin, which was covered in white roses. Mazzola, who died on Saturday at the age of 83, spent 17 seasons at Inter and played for no other club.

Giuseppe Marotta, Inter's president and chief executive, gave the eulogy. "È una leggenda che se ne va" — a legend is leaving us — he said, and asked the club to teach its young players who Mazzola was. Massimo Moratti, the former president and Javier Zanetti, the vice president, were among the mourners.

Outside, in Piazza Sant'Ambrogio, Inter's ultras hung a banner: "Il tuo nome resta tra le pagine della nostra storia" — your name stays in the pages of our history.

Inter Women open in Europe today against BK Häcken

Kickoff at the Stadio Brianteo in Monza is 12:45 PM ET, 18:45 CEST. It is matchday 1 of the league phase, and Inter Women's first match in the competition.

What is new since yesterday: the team trained at the Brianteo on Monday to get used to the stadium. David Sassarini, the head coach, told reporters that the aim is to learn and that he expects mistakes, his own included.

Häcken, from Gothenburg, won the Swedish title in 2025 and the first Women's Europa Cup. In the United States the only coverage is in Spanish, on ESPN Deportes.
