Lautaro Martínez is on the Ballon d'Or shortlist

Inter said Lautaro Martínez, the club captain, is one of 30 players on the shortlist for the 2026 Ballon d'Or. France Football gives the prize to the men's player of the year, and this is Martínez's fifth nomination. The club said the ceremony is tonight at the London Palladium, the first time it has been held in London, and it published no start time.

Martínez finished seventh in the 2024 vote, his best placing. Last season he won the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia, Italy's domestic cup, and was the league's top scorer with 17 goals.

Ivan Provedel makes his Inter debut

Ivan Provedel started in goal against Fiorentina, his first appearance for the club. Inter said he completed 30 of his 31 passes and, with his side a goal down, saved a close-range shot from the Fiorentina substitute Gnonto in the 79th minute. The long-range goal he had conceded denied him a clean sheet.
