Inter went two goals down at San Siro inside 16 minutes and won 5–3 with five different scorers. Cristian Chivu, Inter's coach, took the blame for the flat start and then spent his press conference defending his goalkeeper. Inter go to Roma on Saturday level at the top of Serie A, and Sky Sport Italia expects them to be without two starters.

Cristian Chivu spoke at San Siro after the match. "Mi prendo la responsabilità di non aver trasmesso l'energia giusta stasera" — I take responsibility for not passing on the right energy tonight.

He then turned to his goalkeeper, Josep Martínez, who has been criticized in the Italian press. "Lo difenderò fino alla morte" — I will defend him to the death. He asked reporters to print one line: "Martinez non sarà mai un problema" — Martinez will never be a problem.

Inter Women lost 1–0 to Juventus in the Serie A Women's Cup semifinal on Saturday in Biella. An own goal from Inter defender Van Diemen, in the 34th minute, settled it. Coach David Sassarini called it a good performance on a difficult field, punished by one incident.

Next for them is Häcken on September 22, Inter's first match in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Sky Sport Italia reports that John Stones, the defender signed this summer, came off in the 62nd minute with a problem in his left hamstring. Tests are due within hours. "Le sensazioni, anche per il modo in cui è uscito, non sono positive" — the feeling, given the way he came off, is not good.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who missed Monday with adductor fatigue, is described as in serious doubt for the Olimpico. Inter have ruled out neither player.

The Spanish daily Sport reports that Barcelona wanted Federico Dimarco in the summer window. Through sporting director Deco they proposed a swap: Dimarco to Barcelona, Alejandro Balde to Inter, with a cash balance in Inter's favor. Inter refused — "non c'è mai stata nessuna apertura a questo scenario" — there was never any opening to that scenario.

Edition No. 13 carried the push to extend Dimarco to 2030. New today is the offer Inter turned down.
