Stones in, Dimarco benched

Inter host Udinese at San Siro tonight at 2:45 PM ET (20:45 CEST). Sky Sport Italia's projected lineup gives John Stones his first Inter start, with Federico Dimarco on the bench. Cristian Chivu confirmed on Sunday that Dimarco is available and Djed Spence is not. The new third kit plays tonight.

Cristian Chivu took questions on Sunday at Appiano Gentile, Inter's training ground. He was direct: "Dimarco oggi si è allenato con la squadra ed è a disposizione" — Dimarco trained with the team today and is available. Spence, he said, is "ancora nel processo di riatletizzazione" — still rebuilding his fitness.

Chivu is also still capping midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu near 65 minutes. On Europe he was blunt: "su 7 ne abbiamo vinta 1" — we have won one of seven.

Inter and Nike put the 2026/27 third kit on sale today. It has an Iron Ore base, a black chest band trimmed in Blue Spark, and Speed Yellow on the swoosh and the crest. The collar carries an INTER graphic from the club's 1990s look. The team wears it tonight, and BBVA appears as sleeve partner for the first time.

Inter's Under-23 side lost in Serie C on Saturday at the Stadio Breda. Henin scored in the 46th minute, then turned the ball into his own net in the 58th. Castelli and Manconi made it 3–1, and Mosconi answered in the 88th. Coach Stefano Vecchi was sent off in the 70th for protesting a video review.

Sky Sport Italia's projected lineup is a 3-5-2. Josep Martínez starts in goal, behind Manuel Akanji, John Stones and Alessandro Bastoni. The midfield is Andy Diouf, Nicolò Barella, Piotr Zieliński, Curtis Jones and Carlos Augusto. Francesco Pio Esposito partners captain Lautaro Martínez.

It would be a first start for Stones, the defender signed this summer. Udinese are thin too, without Piotrowski or Solet.

Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy's biggest sports daily, reports that Inter want Federico Dimarco extended at least to 2030. His deal runs to 2027, with a club option for one more year.

Sporting director Dario Baccin will meet the agent Arturo Canales again, after a first meeting in Madrid. Dimarco earns four million euros net a season (Italian salaries are quoted after tax).

Edition No. 11 carried the talks opening. New today is the 2030 target.
